Short introduction to Joan Ryan:
Joan Ryan was a member of the last Labour government representing the constituency of Enfield North for 13 years until 2010 and held a number of prominent posts during this time, once Special Representative to Cyprus and Vice Chair of the Labour Party.
Notable events during her time in Parliament include her continued campaigning in support of services at the local Chase Farm Hospital, her unsuccessful attempt to contest Gordon Brown’s leadership at the time of historic low Labour approval ratings in 2008, and for claiming the most expenses of any MP, £173,691, during the financial year of 2006-2007.
